In Your Own Backyard
By Andy Robinson
If you want a lover, tell you what to do
Hang up your walking shoes your walking days are through
No matter what they tell you, it doesn’t have to be so hard
You can find what you’re looking for in your own backyard
Why take the trouble to go out with other guys?
Take a look around you then open up your eyes
No matter what they tell you, it doesn’t have to be so hard
You can find what you’re looking for in your own backyard
There’s a rhythm in those rusty springs
Those cast-off, thrown away, overlooked things
On the back porch there’s a rocking chair
I can see you and me rocking there
So don’t be sad and lonely – give this boy a try
If you need a reason I’ve a thousand reasons why
No matter what they tell you, you’ve always held the winning card
And love will be waiting in your own backyard
My Coffee
By Jackson Wagner
I like my coffee like I like my women
Just a little bit bitter and unforgiving
Hurts like hell but it gets me through the day
I hate tests but I keep choosing
Ways that I can be misused
In jobs that never really seem to pay
I like my music like I like my books
Devoid of meaning like someone took
A hatchet to the storyboard and plot
I like fire but I’ve been burned
And somehow I just never learned
To pull myself away when it gets hot
I’d like to think I know a thing or two
I’d like to think I know exactly what I’m going through
But when it comes to speaking I get lost
When it comes to self expression, man, my wires all get crossed
I like whiskey, I like wine – talking, drinking, I feel fine
Never had a problem drinking when it’s free
I hate traffic and waiting in line but I still do it every time
To buy things at the store that I don’t need
I like land I’ll get a plot – I’ll go somewhere where the people are not
It’ll just be me and the moon and the stars in the sky
I think I’d like to go away – don’t know where but it’s OK
There’s a few more things in life I’d like to try
I’d like to think I know a thing or two
I’d like to think I know exactly what I’m going through
But when it comes to speaking I get lost
When it comes to self expression, man, my wires all get crossed
